How it works.

In layman’s terms, IPL hair removal heats up the hair, which cause damage to the follicle, preventing that follicle from growing new hair. It works only for hairs that are actively growing, which at any given time is about 10-15% of hairs on the body. This is why you need at least six to eight treatments to see full results.

At NUDE, our IPL hair removal machines are supreme grade for fast, effective and virtually painless treatments.

How often should I drop by for a treatment?

Depending on your hair condition and its growth cycles, we recommend you visit every 4-7 weeks. As tempting it is to skip out, do come at regular intervals in order for the treatment to be effective.

Is it painful?

Contrary to popular belief, the IPL treatments at NUDE are virtually painless. Trust us, our threshold for pain is very low.

How long does it take for an IPL session?

One session takes around 30 minutes – fast enough for a lunch time IPL-quickie!

Do I need to shave before dropping by for a treatment?

There is no need to shave before a treatment. Our expert therapists will do everything for you. Just come in readying yourself for a relaxing time.

I just did waxing 1-2 weeks before, Can I do IPL?

An IPL treatment requires the hair root in order to be effective. Hence, we would advise that you wait for 4 weeks till after your last waxing appointment – this will allow your hair root to grow back.

I’m pregnant, can I do IPL?

No, we do not recommend pregnant women to undergo IPL during their pregnancy. This is because the hormonal changes of pregnancy can alter the efficacy of the treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

Depending on your hair’s condition and your body’s response to the treatment, we recommend 6-8 sessions in order for you to achieve semi-permanent hair reduction.

Is IPL permanent? Will it last forever?

Results from the IPL hair removal will last as long as you do not grow new hair. Typically, it lasts around 3-5 years for an individual. Hormonal fluctuations can cause your body to grow new hair or activate hair follicles that have never produced hair before, so for women, that’s usually pregnancy or menopause.

How should I prepare for treatment? Some Do’s and Don’ts.

Before an IPL session, take note to limit your sun exposure as it increases your skin’s sensitivity. Refrain from plucking, waxing or bleaching the area for at least 2-4 weeks before your treatment as doing so will reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

What will happen during the treatment?

Before the session begins, we will clean the area to ensure the skin is free from any cosmetics, lotions, or deodorants which can make the treatment less effective. You will then be asked to wear a pair of protective eyewear. We will then apply a cooling gel to the area in order to make the process more comfortable. During the treatment, pulses of light will be applied to the area. Feel free to speak to our therapists throughout the session for a more comfortable experience.

Aftercare - How do I take care of my skin afterward?

After your treatments, continue to avoid the sun. Wear sunscreen to protect your skin and avoid hot showers, steam rooms and saunas for at least 24-48 hours so as to not irritate the skin. In addition, do not wax or pluck your hairs as effective treatment requires the roots of your hairs!

How it works.

Hot (but not too hot!) soft or hard wax is applied to the desired area and removed in the opposite direction of the hair growth, pulling hairs out from the root. It is non-permanent and lasts for around four to six weeks. Hair that has been waxed grows back softer and sporadically.

Should I opt for hard or soft wax?

Each wax has its specific pros and cons. Hard wax works best on coarse hair and in sensitive areas (think Brazilian) because as it cools, it hardens and grabs the hair. When it is removed, it only pulls on the hair and not on the skin, resulting in a far less painful waxing experience. Also, hard wax leaves no sticky residue, so it is easier to clean up than soft wax.

Soft wax on the other hand, is great at grabbing finer hairs and works much better on large areas of the body. It cannot be reapplied to the same spot more than once because it removes more layers of dead skin.

Confused? Leave it to us. Our expert therapists will know what to do and will be able to advise the suitable wax for your body part.

What flavours of wax do you have?

We have 4 delicious smelling wax flavours to help make your waxing experience more fun! They are: Chocolate Fudge, Wild Berries, Vanilla Bean and Mango Tango.

Warning: they smell so good, you might be tempted to eat them during your treatment!

Is there a numbing option?

We know that the thought of going through a Brazilian Waxing session can be daunting for most. So here at NUDE, we give you the option to numb the area with numbing cream before getting your treatment done for a more comfortable experience.

How long should my hair be?

Length is key. The ideal length for effective treatment and results would be around the length of a rice grain.

How often should I return for waxing?

Depending on how quickly your hair grows, do return every 3-5 weeks to keep your skin silky smooth and hairless.

Aftercare - How do I take care of my skin after waxing?

As your hair follicles will be open, avoid excessive perspiration and friction so as to minimise skin irritation. Try to avoid exercise for the following 24 hours as sweat could clog the hair follicles. Do exfoliate and moisturise regularly to prevent any ingrown hairs.

Can I go for waxing if I’m pregnant?

Yes, it’s definitely safe to undergo waxing treatment (even Brazilians!) while you’re pregnant, as long as you’re past the first trimester. Do check with your doctor before booking your appointment nonetheless to ensure that he/she gives you the go ahead for your own unique pregnancy.

I’ve just given birth, when can I go for waxing?

Due to the body’s hormonal changes, we recommend that you only come for a waxing treatment 3 months after you’ve had a natural birth. If you delivered through C-section, we would recommend you wait till after 6 months.

What are the types of Brazilian shapes available?

Here at NUDE, we offer something for everyone. Have fun and choose a different shape every time you visit!

Who will be doing the treatments?

Our professionally trained therapists will be performing the treatments on you. They’ve been trained to the highest standards to ensure that you get the most effective and comfortable treatments with us and have been tasked to ensure that every one of you leaves NUDE with a smile on your face.

Hygiene Standards

At NUDE, we’ve a tall order when it comes to maintaining hygiene standards. Clean towels are a must, gloves are always necessary, disposable shavers are non-negotiable and double dipping is strictly prohibited.

Why do your therapists wear gloves?

In order to maintain the highest standards of hygiene, our therapists wear gloves that they change in between clients in order to prevent any chances of cross contamination.

Are your towels clean?

Of course! We change a set of towels after every of our customer to maintain freshness and cleanliness.

Do you double dip your wax sticks?

We are very particular about maintaining hygiene standards. This means that we prohibit any double dipping of wax sticks once they have been used. This maintains the hygiene and cleanliness of our waxing pots.

Do you use an electric shaver?

Definitely not! Sharing an electric shaver exposes you to the risk of bacteria infection (yikes). Instead, we invest in using shavers with top quality disposable shaver heads to minimize the chance of shaving nicks and cuts.

What happens pre-treatment?

We provide towel wipes from Fresh by Kit for you to freshen up in privacy before your treatment. These wipes are pH balanced and entirely free of parabens, dyes, petrochemicals, sulfates and synthetic fragrances (yes, we only use the best quality products at Nude!).

Before performing our signature intimate wax, we also use a Pre-Wax Cleanse on your skin to further prepare and cleanse the area.
